Glacier terminus

this is where the Fox glacier ends and the river melts. Although it looks black and white
it isn't as you can see from the little bit of moss on one of the rocks

I really enjoy taking photos and would appreciate your feedback so that I can learn as I go. I particularly enjoy photographing birds animals and landscapes

True, the ice seems dark rock, but it is only darkened by time. Very good shot.

just amazing! and i had to look a second time to indeed see the black and blue ice!! i thought i was rock! wow! splendidly done! i really did believe this was a black and white at first -- what a awesome trick! ;) gorgeous and powerful scene here!

You are right Deb, if I didn't look at this closely I would have thought it was a black and white image, very well done, hope you had your shoes on, it looks cold and harsh under foot!

Wow thats amazing J. Really thought it was black and white. It just goes to show how bleak it can be near the glaciers! Great shot:-)

@Linerberry: Especially on a bleak day I think the colours improve if you can afford (sigh) to go on the glacier with a guide nice blues and whites.

Do you know has global warming affected this glacier? and was it as cold as it looks.

@Jeff: Hi Jeff. Yes it was as cold as it looks freezing in fact and started to rain about a minute later. I'm not sure about global warming the glacier has certainly receded on the road in it shows where it was in the 1800s and 1950s but I also read somewhere that the glaciers on the west coast where actually growing as opposed to the ones on the east coast which are definately receding. so I guess that would be a big I don't really know
