Franz Joseph glacier

the northmost of the two west coast glaciers. We decided to go out on the river bed for the walk as close as we could get. It unfortunately involved cross to streams of glacial melt. Of came the shoes and away I went only to describe the pain that followed as "my feet were screaming" The pain was intense. It quickly subside and we didn't have to cross anymore rivers. The worst moment of course being taking off the shoes for the journey BACK across the rivers for this time you knew how much pain was involved

I really enjoy taking photos and would appreciate your feedback so that I can learn as I go. I particularly enjoy photographing birds animals and landscapes

ahhhhhhhh oh my that would have hurt! was it worth it? i guess your photos over the next few days will show! I was lucky enough to climb this glacier a few years back and it was such a wonderful and also terrifying experience balancing over and squeezing through huge crevices!!! such a wonderful place!

Screaming feet - now that's an interesting mental image just like this is an interesting real image. I like the little specks (people) that give a sense of scale.

Nice shot Debbie. Looks like an interesting place to explore. I like the hikers in the picture...gives a good sense of scale. Nice to see there are still some glaciers left!

Having had to walk icy streams in my army days I can relate to the pain, but something you had to do there, wonderful capture, I have been there but so long ago I dont remember it as well as I wish I did thanks for spurring memories :)
