john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesTerrific capture! Excellent selective focus. 6 Feb 2009 5:23am Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandSad how sometimes no amount of warnings can make someone stop and think!! 6 Feb 2009 5:58am Alun Lambert from cheshire, United KingdomIsn't it sad that we need somthing to tell us that it is not safe, people just dont think. 6 Feb 2009 6:37am Maxine from Rangiora, New ZealandThis is a social commentary, and a sad one at that! when people ignore warnings it just feeds the great OSH cycle. 6 Feb 2009 7:59am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaAbsolutely no hope for the little black fella on the signs. He's done for. RIP lol :) 6 Feb 2009 8:40am @dobbino: I have replied to this comment on the other comment so now will reply to the other comment. Go the BLACKCAPS it is amazing poor fellas we are always astounded when they win. Even the commentator on the first game said that they often had a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyTourists always think they know better don´t they.Back home in Pembrokeshire it´s the same every year.Holidaymakers getting into trouble in the sea or on the cliffs. 6 Feb 2009 9:12am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaAnd I see you didn't have to worry about your cricket team! Way to go! 6 Feb 2009 12:46pm @dobbino: Hehehe Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesPity those that don't heed the warnings!!!! Kewl shot!!! 6 Feb 2009 1:32pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesYeah, that should be sufficient. Neat capture 6 Feb 2009 4:02pm @dogilicious: thanks for the visit you would think it would be sufficient but we watched several people step over the ropes and carry on Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI love signs and graphics - so this capture really - er, well - captures me! Good production. 6 Feb 2009 6:24pm @Stephen Phillips: LOL thanks Bookfool from Mississippi, United StatesVery cool photo! We watched several people lift or step over ropes leading to a glacier in Alaska. I still think that is so bizarre. I'm just not willing to consciously make my way into the Darwin Awards. 6 Feb 2009 8:10pm EYES WIDE SHUT from United KingdomWonderfully observed, Debbie. I have been in so many situations in various locations worldwide where I've witnessed people ignoring the most obvious and basic of warnings to get that killer shot, or a closer look at something, or just to show off, and they always seem to assume that nothing bad will happen to them, or that the rules are there to be broken! We are a bizarre creature, are we not? 6 Feb 2009 8:41pm roentarre from Melbourne, Australiathis must be one of the most terrible places to visit! So many dangers lurking within! 6 Feb 2009 9:40pm @roentarre: thanks for the visit. Love your photo of the McTaggarty river and the guy Kathryn from Warburton, Australiahehe wonderful - i have a similar image taken at Fox but not as many signs as this - i wonder if that has changed now!!! i admire the way that in NZ you can still walk this close to 'dangerous' situations - in Australia no way would you be able to even get close enough to even see the glacier, it is that Public-Liability-mad here! i hope that doesn't change in NZ all because of a few arrogant tourists with no respect for the power of nature!! 6 Feb 2009 10:04pm Kurt from San Francisco, United StatesLove these type of signs--wonder what the difference is supposed to be between the white cliff and black cliff in the lower two? 6 Feb 2009 10:06pm @Kurt: I think One is ice and one is rock thanks for the viist Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomWell......... they can't say that they haven't been warned. In the recent UK snowstorms people had to be rescued by helicopter because they went walking in the mountains...! 6 Feb 2009 11:08pm JJ from Jersey City, United StatesSad to say but in my younger days I was foolish and thought I was ten foot tall and bullet proof and may have ignored these signs with the mates, but now I can say maybe finally I have grown up and are a lot more sensible greta shot 7 Feb 2009 1:05am Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesIf one sign doesn't warn them enough and you need 4 then so be it... people can be really daft - present company excepted though :) 7 Feb 2009 2:38am Charles from New York, United StatesThis looks like such a dangerous place. Nice capture Debbie. 7 Feb 2009 3:38am One from Açores, PortugalTourists, of course when they reach the long desired goal, they want to see up close the wonders of nature. And the authorities must somehow buck to four panels cost less than a guardian .... ! 7 Feb 2009 4:17am Cricket from Huntsville, United StatesBefore I read your title that was my first thought. Who looks at the signs. Just people with a camera. What a great depiction that rules are always broken. Lovely shot. 8 Feb 2009 3:09pm willow from Chelsea, United StatesI love the selective color! I get a big kick out of signs like these - I always wondered who decides that the random stick guy surrounded by squiggly lines means anything. 8 Feb 2009 11:59pm |
